I am Atefeh Johari, a dedicated, forward thinker, and strong practitioner who believes that collaboration is the core of success in all levels of personal and professional interactions. Being collaborative means understanding self and others who are walking the same path as we do. Throughout my career path in the last 20+ years, I have witnessed that one of the key factors of success comes from the strong interpersonal skills which exist in all levels of our lives specially our organization. Being a practitioner who is holding the Bachelors of Human Resources Management and Masters in Organizational Psychology, and other certifications in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Positive Psychology (PP), Appreciative Inquiry, and Mindfulness Mastery, I have realized that Emotional Intelligence (EI) skills provide a strong leverage in both personal and professional encounters. The cohesiveness, collaboration and overall motivation of my clients whether as individuals or teams have improved by enhancing the necessary knowledge in these areas through providing individual or group developmental teachings, seminars, and workshops.
I am a true believer that to improve our external environmentthe focus needs to shift to acknowledgment and improvement of self first and that's the very reason I believe in EI teachings. EI enhances the awareness of self and allows us to be more mindful of our emotional and mental experiences and therefore our well-being. As an active advocate of mental health awareness, I have witnessed that those who have proactive EI skills can reduce their anxiety, worrying, and stress just by enhancing their Self-Awareness and Self Management skills that are the two major components of EI. The core of positive change and collaboration in our environment is rooted in understanding and effective communication with others which is the other two components of EI teachings, Social-Awareness and Relationship Management. We all have and use these skills on daily basis in different capacities, the only difference is when we use these skills with the mindset of mindful intention and improvement, we can create more conscious relationships, workplaces, communities, and societies.
The truth is that these skills can be enhanced to create more collaborative communities and organizations. As an ambassador of compassion, I truly believe as we improve our EI skills we are practicing more compassion towards not only others but ourselves and through compassion, we will create a more conscious environment. For an organization, this conscious environment is the alignment of mission, vision, and the culture that is preferred for the overall success of the organization. As for a community, it means having a strong, supportive, and compassionate citizens who believe in themselves and others.
